Marijuana allegedly seized in trash truck crossing Blue Water Bridge

U.S. Customs and Border Protection says marijuana was found in garbage bags Sunday in the back of a garbage truck at the Blue Water Bridge.

A trash hauler alleged to be carrying more than 1,000 pounds of marijuana in garbage bags was stopped Sunday while attempting to cross into Michigan on the Blue Water Bridge near Sarnia.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection said in a news release the truck arrived at U.S. Customs at about 11:15 p.m., and the driver said he was hauling trash to a landfill in New Boston, Mich.

The truck and driver were sent to secondary inspection where it’s alleged the marijuana was discovered.
