Greenville City Council to schedule special meetings to talk about exploring marijuana ordinances

GREENVILLE — On the subject of allowing businesses to grow or sell marijuana commercially, be it recreational, medical or both, members of the Greenville City Council can agree on one thing — they want more time to discuss it.

During the council’s Oct. 20 meeting, an agenda item to consider whether to take action on the pursuit of a marijuana ordinance was discussed thoroughly.

The subject has been discussed informally and sporadically throughout the past two years since voters approved the legalization of recreational marijuana use but have received more attention in recent month as Matt Bonner and Shawnee Lenon, owners of the Green Medicine Shop, have expressed a desire to become a medical marijuana provisioning…
