The hyper-polarization of America is sending us down the shitter. And it’s not just those who see no wrong in the Cheeto in Chief. It’s me too. I talk shit with the best of them. Anyone who’s followed the Loud News Net Twitter account for the past few months knows I don’t mind getting in the mud with the radical-right.
But as we sit on here on election night 2020, I hope we take some time to reflect on where we are. Some have cut-off family members. Lifelong friendships have been shattered. Thanksgiving dinners will no longer be the same.

The Division of America
The division of America has been intensified by social media poking and prodding our primal instincts. Foreign governments are feeding us misinformation. Mainstream news outlets are rolling in dough as they drive record ratings through fear and division. A perfect dystopia.
I have voted for Democrats, Republicans, and Independents during my life. I’ve befriended people from all walks of life.

I’ve been a registered Independent since I the day I turned 18 years old. I’ve always been more anti-establishment than down with any particular party. As I’ve said before, no candidate has ever perfectly fit my views.
Go Against the Grain…It Feels So Gooood!
Some visitors to Loud News Net automatically think we are democrat-liberal-radical-left-hipsters. And to tell you the truth, I don’t even know what that fucking shit means.
I’ve never had a problem talking shit or standing up for what I think, even if it was the unpopular view. Which has been often. Fucking seriously. After all, I run Loud News Net – which is the equivalent of the unpopular high school kid throwing a middle finger to the jocks and preppies he grew up with.
Independent Thought
Isn’t that what we need more of though? More people thinking for themselves? In reality, we have that. Unfortunately, thinking for yourself has come down to what echo chamber you decide to partake in.
I miss the intellectual debate. I miss discussing the policies and governing philosophies of Democrats and Republicans, without having to have blind allegiance to either party.
Friends Over Trends
I talked with a good friend the other day regarding the split and cognitive dissonance in this country right now. We are so fucked up we don’t even know what’s true. We discussed our different views on a few things. I’m sure we have different takes. But at the end of the day, I got my homies back to the end. Fuck Democrats. Fuck Republicans. Family and friends matter more.
Neighbors
This brings me to the community. We don’t go around shouting at each other in the grocery store despite viral videos that pop up now and then. I’m sure I’ve smiled, had passing conversations, and sent good wishes to many on team MAGA in my daily interactions. Isn’t that what it’s about? Don’t be an asshole, unless you want to be treated like an asshole. My golden rule.
Living in a community where Trump received 65% of the vote in 2016 isn’t always easy. One of our neighbors planted a Trump 2020 sign right on our property line out of spite. Knowing that we disagreed with his views.

My initial response was to plant a BLM sign adjacent to his sign. Essentially blocking it from our purview. But where did that get me? Fucking pointless.
So What is Your Fuggin’ Point?
I guess my point of this election day 2020 rant is we are better than how we are portrayed by mainstream media. We do it every day. There is a small minority of people who can go piss up a rope. But for the most part, people are nice. People don’t want conflict and will work it out.
I’m not sure if this stream of consciousness even makes sense to y’all. I just want to say, I don’t hate you Trump supporters. I might talk some shit on Twitter, but let’s separate that from who we are as human beings. We don’t need to be better. We are better.
In the end, these are stressful times. But we are all Americans. Our country isn’t perfect but we are blessed to be here. In some cases, people need to toughen up and stop being so thin-skinned. In others, let’s try a little empathy and compassion. There’s no perfect system to be human, but let’s try it no matter what happens tonight.
