As the weeks pass and they almost seem to be blending together, artists are creating new music rapidly. In fact, something I always look forward to each week are new music Fridays, where many folks release fresh projects and new tracks. This past week, we heard some new collaborations from some talented artists. I’ve created my list of the top 4 singles released this week.

Mystery Lady by Masego ft. Don Toliver

Masego is underrated. He always hits us with smooth tracks with impressive saxophone solos. Don Toliver recently had a song go viral on Tik Tok and is making his way back onto the charts. “Mystery Lady” is a more relaxed track for Toliver, while it combines some trap vibes with soulful R&B. Both artists describe their dream ladies throughout the new track.

Angel by Lava La Rue and Deb Never

Two lo-fi artists, on the opposite ends of the spectrum, Lava La Rue and Deb Never pair up for their dreamy new track “Angel.” Generally speaking, Lava La Rue is rap heavy with electronic influence, while Deb Never is found more in the indie pop realm. This song had to be one of the top 4 singles released this week due to the queer power and creative visuals.

Nothing Left by POORSTACY and Travis Barker

There’s no way I could let a Travis Barker track escape my top 4 singles released this week. Travis Barker has taken a new generation of rappers under his wing. “Nothing Left” is a prime example of a Soundcloud rapper taking more influence from punk rock and creating a genre bending track. POORSTACY already dresses punk so his music is becoming another outlet to express that appreciation.

Cherries by Hope Tala ft. Aminé

Hope Tala delivers a Bossa Nova and R&B fueled new track with “Cherries.” She notes her inspiration for the track is from the story of Adam and Eve. We hear melodic verses from Tala, while Aminé‘s short verse is pretty explicit and sexual. Keep an eye out for Hope Tala, a rising star from West London.
