A man who ran a cannabis factory with 30 plants worth up to £25,000 at his Cardiff home handed himself in at a police station after saying he “wanted out”.
Gregory Wyatt, 46, told police he was coerced into cultivating the cannabis plants at his property in Birchgrove Road by people higher up in the drugs supply chain.
He attended a police station on August 6 last year where he notified officers of the drugs operation. They later attended his home where they found two of the bedrooms being used as a small-scale cannabis factory.
There were 30 plants in total, with 16 in one bedroom and 14 plants in another, along with cannabis cultivation paraphernalia.
Prosecutor Meirion Davies told a sentencing hearing at Cardiff Crown Court on Wednesday the drugs had a wholesale value of up to £19,000 but had a street value up to £25,000.
The defendant was arrested and he later pleaded guilty to cannabis production and using electricity without authority.

Defence barrister Stephen Thomas said his client “wanted out” of the drugs enterprise and argued that due to the way the offences came to light and the defendant’s mental health issues it could be an appropriate case for a suspended sentence.
