STANTON — The Stanton Planning Commission opted to allow only two retail marijuana facilities within the city in marijuana ordinances drafts, which still require the City Commission’s approval before being made official.

On Wednesday, the Planning Commission continued to discuss the draft adult-use and medical marijuana facility ordinances that they’ve been working on since the start of 2020.

Tim Johnson of MainStreet Planning Company, who the city hired to help the Planning Commission draft the ordinances, kicked off the discussion by explaining what had happened since the Planning Commission held a public hearing on the drafts in November.

“I corrected the ordinance based on (the Planning Commission’s) comments and based on (City) Commissioner Jane Basom’s comments (from the Planning Commission’s public hearing on the matter, which was held in November), which were extensive,” Johnson said. “There were some other revisions I caught a second time…
