5 Reasons Donald Trump 2024 Won’t Happen

Since losing the recent presidential election, Donald Trump has been fighting for dear life to stay relevant. He’s been casting doubt on the legitimacy of the election results, pardoning his criminal friends, suing Facebook, and there have even been whispers around the campfire about his team planning some sort of big, “extravagant White House exit to upstage Biden inauguration” as reported by the Hill. While most of these actions or rumors only come off as the humorous, desperate clamoring of a soar loser, one thing that he has personally confirmed to everyone that has many people worried is that he may be planning to announce his bid for reelection in 2024.

Personally, like most things that come out of his mouth, I happen to think that he is full of shit. Don’t get me wrong – if he somehow makes it to 2024 and is still alive, walking among those that aren’t incarcerated, and still somehow has enough money to do so, he probably would run again. I just think him saying it now is an empty gesture. There is just far too much working against him, and after he loses the shield that the American presidency has provided him, we will watch him finally have to answer for the mountain of lies and illegal activity he has made before, during and will probably continue to add on to after his presidency.

So what exactly is standing in Donald Trump’s way of being reelected dictator in chief once again? Let’s take a look and see just how realistic of another campaign run for him really is.

1. Trump Is Too Old & Unhealthy

Right now, Trump is 74 years old which would make him 78 come the year 2024. When he first took office back in 2016, he became the oldest person ever to hold the office of president of the United States. Now that he lost reelection, Biden, who just turned 78, will take that geriatric title belt away from him. Here’s the thing – I don’t defend Biden in some hypocritical way about his age. If you ask me, they are both too damn old. I really hate to be THAT person because I don’t want to hold some sort of ageist position, but to act as though it would have absolutely no bearing on their ability to do the job would be ludicrous. As someone who voted for and still supports Bernie Sanders, I would absolutely never say that someone over 75 couldn’t handle such a position, but I think it’s time to reevaluate this strange act of finding the oldest person to run this country.

As for Trump, his age is only part of the equation. He isn’t exactly a pillar of good health… or is he? The truth is, no one knows for certain because Trump has literally gone out of his way to create lies and then have others reiterate those lies to give the illusion that he is. In 2015 while he was running, he had Dr. Harold Bornstein pen a letter that literally stated, “If elected, Mr. Trump, I can state unequivocally, will be the healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency.” Bornstein eventually told CNN that Trump himself had dictated the entire letter and eventually sent a team to raid his office of all the presidents medical records.

Trump has since replaced Bornstein with other doctors that have proven to do a better, more consistent job at lying for him, from everything to his weight to his height. But anyone with eyes can see that Trump is obese, and his shameless penchant for fast food and watching TV doesn’t help. And if that isn’t enough to convince you, he’s been on record stating that he doesn’t exercise because he believes, “the human body was like a battery, with a finite amount of energy, which exercise only depleted.”

2. Most Incumbents Don’t Lose

The vast majority of the time, throughout American history, when an incumbent president runs for a second term they actually win. Out of all the presidents elected in this country, Trump has now officially become the tenth to be denied reelection. And only one president, Glover Cleveland, was able to get a second term in 1892 after losing reelection in 1888, which is what Trump thinks he can do.

Obviously, I can’t say that it’s impossible for him to win if he does get a chance to run again, but history will show us that it is highly unlikely. But then again, so much about Donald Trump, his campaign and presidency, and even the cult-like characteristics of his base are remarkably unprecedented. And what about Biden? He would be 82 when 2024 comes around and speculation about him being a one-term president has been on the rise. But if Biden did manage to remain in good health to run again or possibly pass the torch to, say, Kamala Harris, another campaign for Trump could be dead on arrival.

3. Trump & Family Has Legal Troubles

After January 20, 2021, Donald Trump will once again become just another U.S. citizen. No longer will he be able to use the presidency as something he can hide behind from all his legal woes, he will have to finally face them without impunity. I believe this is where we will finally get to see and hear the REAL Donald Trump. Not the guy that can manage to put people in powerful positions to lie for him, or the guy that uses particular media outlets to spread his misinformation. We will hear Trump and/or whatever legal team he can afford finally have to address things that have taken place and been under investigation in front of a judge and a jury of what are now his peers.

There are a handful of legal issues he has to address, and BBC news outlines some of the most notable ones including cases involving fraud, paying “hush” money to two playboy models, his breaking of the emoluments clause (which involves profiting from holding public office), and allegations of sexual misconduct. To top it all off, his children who have been raking in money during his presidency, are also being investigated, most recently his daughter Ivanka for misuse of inauguration funds.

He wont be able to call up Fox & Friends and insist that it’s all lies and fake news. If that is the case he will have to present something called evidence, a concept I’m sure is foreign to him. And we know how he feels about foreign things. Either way, all of this stands to drain him of not only a lot of money and resources, but probably reputation points, unless he happens to end up in prison. Maybe pardoning himself isn’t such a bad idea…

4. The Trump Allure Is Wearing Off

This is more speculation than anything, but I happen to think that whatever elements made him successful in 2016 are quickly dying, and by 2024 he will be more of a joke than anything. I know it FEELS like there are a shitload of Trump supporters everywhere you go, and to some extent there are, but a big part of feeling that is simply because they have a tendency to be the loudest voices in the room saying the most ridiculous shit possible.

In my opinion, Trump’s 2016 win was more of a ‘right place, right time’ kind of thing. I don’t think he’s some sort of maniacal genius that figured out the psyche of the forgotten blue-class working American like many claim. His brand of entertainment (and that’s all it really is at the end of the day) just happened to finally work and win him the presidency. He was the Frankenstein’s monster that Fox News and Rush Limbaugh created, the far right’s response to Obama and the fear of some hyper fascist liberal agenda that would put pride flags everywhere and brown people in positions of influence and power. He made white people proud to be white, which was something they felt was taken away from them in this new America known as Obama land.

Overall, he was their last attempt to cling to truly old-school conservative values that are dying out like the dinosaurs they don’t believe in. But if 2020 has taught me anything, it’s that A LOT can happen and change in a year, and I think a lot will happen in the next 4. So much was revealed about Donald Trump and there’s so much more to come, and the bad will absolutely outweigh the good. And without his soap box to stand on to claim “IT’S ALL A HIT JOB!”, only a fraction of people that hear it now will care to listen.

5. The GOP Will Evolve… Without Trump

This may come as a surprise to you, but I do not hate republicans or those that lean politically right. I think the idea of the two party system in this country is a farce, and it’s a shame that we are forced to pick who we kinda like better between a bunch of old white men that probably agree a lot more than they disagree on most things.

With that said, Trump does not stand for traditional Republican values. I happen to think there are a ton of reputable Republican’s that could run laps around him intellectually and on policy positions, whether I happen to agree with those positions or not. But it seems a large part of the party has strayed away from the idea that either of those qualities are important when picking a leader. I do believe this sentiment was further exacerbated by the fear mongering from Fox anchors during the Obama era that has shrouded political discourse in this country with hearsay.

The truth is that racism, sexism, bigotry, xenophobia and all the other negative descriptors one could use to describe Donald Trump and his rhetoric, are not strictly Republican characteristics. But this rise and popularization of hateful politics that has come from the Trump era gives the illusion that it is, and the lack of opposing right wing voices has perpetuated that. I believe it has fractured the party and the next few years will cause it to go through something of an existential crisis. But I do believe more voices will come forward, and as Donald Trump continues to lose his footing with the party, he will eventually become something of a memory, like an ex you used to date that makes you look back and go “WTF WAS I THINK?!”

My wish is not to see Republicans fail or Democrats win, but to see America kick ass. But we can’t get there by electing ignorant people that seem hellbent on dividing us. I’ll leave you with this quote from George Carlin that I put in my article on Carlin quotes to live by:
