2021 Predictions that will Make You Uncomfortable and Hopeful

2020 has been a colossal mind-fuck for most individuals living in the United States. People on every side seem to have lost their shit and tensions have run high. Going out to grocery store these days is all but a Navy Seal commando operation. Despite the angst, the calendar flips tomorrow and we at Loud News Net ready to make some 2021 predictions, for better or worse.

December 31, 2020 marks the one-year anniversary of Loud News Net. We’ve accomplished a lot in year 1 and are ready to go next level with our fans and followers. I’ll give you the classic “stay tuned” here but there are no promises.

When we launched last year, we were strictly focused on cannabis content. In most cases, we were syndicating snippets from other outlets. After COVID hit in March it was obvious that we needed to be less boxed in with what we were covering. We started covering music and movies. Then the George Floyd murder happened and everything changed.

In many ways, I have guided the site back to my true roots which are made up of a smorgasbord of hip hop and cannabis culture, visual entertainment of movies, TV, and graffiti; and of course the climate of political social issues in the United States. To the uninitiated these topics are unrelated, but to me, it’s everything that I’m about – against the grain, anti-establishment, independent thought. Don’t ever tell me things are the way they are because that is the way they’ve always been done.

As we move into 2021, I want to thank all the contributors to the site who have helped make this happen. The writers, the IT help, our SEO teams, and all the other people I’ve spoken to this year as I tried to learn about what it takes to run a website. Thank you.

Now with that said, I am ready to make some bold predictions for 2021. Some are not good, others bring hope. They are bold and not meant for the faint of heart. Like our site, they touch on an eclectic range of topics. I look forward to evaluating these 2021 predictions on December 31, 2021.

2021 Predictions

1. More State Weed Legalization in 2021

Arizona, Montana, New Jersey, and South Dakota all voted to legalize cannabis in 2020. Mississippi also legalized medical cannabis. This makes 16 states including D.C. where marijuana is legal to adults over 21 years of age.

In 2021, more states will full legalize cannabis as they try to balance budget shortfalls caused by the enduring COVID pandemic.

2021 prediction: At least four states will legalize recreational cannabis including New York, Rhode Island, Connecticut. The fourth state will be Pennsylvania, Virginia, or Maryland.

2. The S&P 500 will Have a Horrible Year

The stock market has been roaring through 2021 after hitting lows in March. However, 2021 will be the year that money managers and prognosticators start to feel the pain brought on by COVID.

The market has largely been unaffected to this point due to trillions of liquidity being injected by the Federal Reserve. With interest rates at historical lows the search for yield has brought investors to the equity markets. However, the real economy is suffering.

Millions unemployed. Small businesses closing up shop. Thousands waiting in food lines to feed their family. If you think this won’t end up dragging on the bottom line of many corporations, and lead to more layoffs, and in turn more foreclosures and delinquencies, then you are out of touch or just too high from your unrealized stock gains to see it.

2021 prediction: The S&P 500 will end red for the year.

3. Bitcoin will Go Higher

I love Bitcoin and believe it’s the future of currency. The possibilities are vast and access to trading and monetization is growing. PayPal getting into Bitcoin in 2020 was a huge boost in legitimizing the crypto-currency.

As more institutions get involved in Bitcoin, the price will go higher. The famous stock to flow model by Plan B has Bitcoin reaching $55K relatively soon, and I concur. In addition to stock-flow, any disruption or geo-political event could create a tsunami in Bitcoin demand as a sovereign free safe haven for wealth.

2021 Prediction: Bitcoin will reach $70K per Bitcoin in 2021.

4. COVID-19 will be Eradicated

The vaccines are in place. The infrastructure is here. This one is simple. Joe Biden’s first priority on January 20 will be the rapid distribution of the COVID-19 vaccines. Trump was all talk and no substance with “Operation Warp Speed”, or “Operation Warm Turd” as it has proven to be.

I expect Biden to invoke the Defense Production Act to make this happen or at least make an effort in that direction.

2021 prediction: Fuck you COVID-19, you’re out.

5. We have Not Seen the Last of Black Lives Matter Protests

Nor should we. Not a lot has been solved since the world was awoken by the killing of George Floyd. In fact, maybe some progress can be made now President Trump will be out of office. But even as that fat fuck has impeded progress, I’ve said before that Joe Biden is no silver bullet to slay the werewolf that is racism in America.

But the catalyst? Shouldn’t take much as Police in America have made no tangible effort of introspection and reform. Instead, they tried to play the victim and started a counter-protest of Blue Lives Matter. Fuck off. But since we are making predictions I sadly will put down a catalyst.

2021 prediction: Three of the four officers who murdered George Floyd will be acquitted. King dick-face, Derek Chauvin, will be convicted of only second-degree manslaughter and won’t be convicted of second-degree murder. His sentence will be minimal. This will piss people off and rightfully so.

6. The Kansas City Chiefs will repeat as Super Bowl Champs

No other team has looked as consistently dominant as the Kansas City Chiefs in 2020. After winning their first title since leather helmets in February 2020, Mahomes and crew have continued to dominate. I don’t see any team stopping them from becoming the first team to win back-to-back Super Bowls since the New England Patriots did it after the 2003-2004 seasons.

2021 prediction: Mahomes leads KC to another Super Bowl win in February, this time over the Green Bay Packers.

7. The Trump Organization will be Fined into Bankruptcy

Maybe this is wishful thinking. I just kind of feel like the State of New York is salivating at the mouth for January 21. I think they will come up short of actually charging the studio-gangster Donald Trump with anything but they will make his organization pay.

2021 prediction: Trump Organization will declare bankruptcy following large fines and back-taxes from the State of New York. We all know this joke is broke, this will demonstrate it for everyone.

8. Movie Theaters are Dead

It’s over for movie theaters. The pandemic has shown us that the straight to streaming approach for new releases works. In fact, I would argue that many people purchased straight to streaming offerings for $20 more frequently than they would have gone to theaters. I know I did.

Most movies don’t require a movie theater experience given the modern advances in TV and Audio quality. Some movies like Star Wars or Tenet do benefit. But gone are the days of trekking to the theater to see the latest When Harry Met Sally flick.

2021 prediction: A major movie chain will go out of business in 2021.

9. Masks Are Here to Stay

In many areas of Asia it has been commonplace to wear masks in public to prevent the spread of communicable disease. Now that America has got a taste of what that is like, I’d expect it to be a while before mask-wearing goes away.

Having been a train commuter for part of my adult life, I can safely say that I will be during cold and flu seasons even once COVID is gone. When you ride the metal petri-dish you realize the amount of germs that are being passed around. Packed in like sardines next to someone sneezing and coughing, no thanks. I’ll mask up.

2021 prediction: Masks will outlast COVID and you’ll still see mask-wearing at the end of 2021.

10. Russia is going to Pull Some Shit to Test Biden

Russia is essentially a country run by an organized crime syndicate. Now that their sleeper agent is out of the White House there must be some angst in Moscow. I am not an expert on world relations but I know a thing or two about street relations. And if Moscow is feeling vulnerable, I’d expect them to lash out in some way to test the U.S. response. Or distract the United States at the very least.

Putin and crew have a lot of ways they could do this. Cyber attacks, regional conflicts, and interference with U.S. military members are all options. I think there is likely something coming as Russia views the U.S. as vulnerable right now.

2021 prediction: Russia will conduct a major cyber attack on the United States
