So, the 25th amendment is on the table again as Trump seeds doubt in the validity of the November election results. After encouraging his supporters to storm the Capitol, Congress had to go into a recess which delayed their debate regarding the presidential vote certification.
So, as he’s promoting riots and threatening our democracy, many are wondering: When will this madness end?

Sadly, the 25th amendment won’t do a damn thing to help us. The most that we can do is sit and wait for Biden to take office. Hopefully, he knows how to clean up the shit stains left by our fearless, Twitter-fingers leader.
What Is The 25th Amendment?
The 25th amendment states that a president can be removed from office if he or she is unable to successfully perform the duties of this position. This would be determined by the vice president and the majority of the cabinet.

Now, this is different from impeachment because the vice president taking on these roles would only be considered an acting president. In the instance of a president’s death or impeachment, then the vice president would assume those powers permanently.
So, this means that the president could potentially challenge these sanctions and fight to keep his or her position of power against the 25th amendment.
This amendment is mostly useful for temporary incapacitations of a president, such as emergency surgeries. It’s much more difficult to enact this amendment against a sitting president.
Why Can’t We Use The 25th Amendment To Fire Trump?

Firstly, the 25th amendment has never been used against a sitting president other than exceptions for medical reasons. So, it’s very difficult to try and implement the rights of this amendment against President Trump while he’s still in office.
Secondly, we’re so close to the end of Trump’s presidential term anyway that it may not even be worth pursuing. This process doesn’t happen overnight, and our government has never been known for its accountability or swiftness.
Regardless, if our government happens to muster up enough hootspa to enact the 25th amendment against President Trump, we all know he’d eagerly contest this action. Just like how he has tried to delay the presidential election, the same thing would happen if we tried to get him out of office.
Lastly, it’s nearly impossible to make an argument that Trump is suddenly unfit for office. When our nation elected him, he already publicly possessed the traits that many of us fear today. He’s erratic, emotional, hot-headed and he doesn’t listen to reason. We can’t really make a case that he’s all of a sudden unfit when he has been this way.
So, we might as well wait until Biden takes office on January 20, 2021. Then, Trump will have no other choice but to pack his shit and leave.
It’s Not Like We Haven’t Tried Already
Before you ask, no, this isn’t the first time the 25th amendment has been considered as a plan of action to boot Trump out of office.
Back in 2018, there were whispers of the amendment being used against the president, but that was quickly shot down. Along with any other attempts to get rid of the orange goblin over the years.
However, is appointing Mike Pence as the president, acting or official, really our best solution? Like, this is the best we can do?
Personally, if these two are our only choices, I think we’re fucked either way. Unless Keanu Reeves summons a matrix-style ass-whooping, I don’t see a silver lining until we get some fresh blood in the oval office.
The Bottom Line
I know this has been a hard four years for our nation, but we can’t give up hope. Trump has put our country through hell and back, but a silver lining is in sight.
The 25th amendment might not be our saving grace, but we’re so close to Trump’s final days as president that it doesn’t really matter. Additionally, Biden may not be the solution to all of our problems, as many have also questioned his mental abilities, but at least he’s not a total buffoon who’s raging wars via Twitter.
