Recently (on the evening of August 27), Drink Champs has returned to put rumors to rest following the controversial interview with Mickey Factz. What happened? In short, Noreaga called Shyheim and Wu-Tang affiliates flunkies. I know slurs happen on and off on big podcasts, but this one went too far. If you’ve been living under a rock, here are the details.

What Happened

The gang discussed Shyheim and Wu-Tang Clan affiliates to whom Noreaga referred to as “flunkies” or the “niggas who don’t even exist” during the show. Naturally, this irritated many people, and some rappers stepped forward to address Noreaga’s bullshit comment.
According to Noreaga:

“We want to be clear. Our show is fun; our show is about giving flowers; our show is about showing love.”

He continued in a video by stating that:

“Every now and then, you know, we might joke a little too much and say something we wasn’t supposed to say. But our show is about giving flowers and especially to people who’s been there before us, been there as we was there, and definitely after we were there. We [have] always been about that.”

The co-host, DJ EFN, added that they “take ownership” of the comments, and it should have never happened in the first place. Even though Noreaga claimed that he handled the problem off-air, the group called Killah Priest for a virtual public discussion.
DJ EFN stated that they were not attempting to slander anyone’s reputation, especially Shyheim and Wu-Tang affiliates. According to N.O.R.E.:

“I was extremely wrong. I was the person that used the word, so I’m gonna take the blame for that. I’m a say I’m extremely wrong.”

Shyheim and Wu-Tang Affiliates vs. “Drink Champs”

How did the initial comments sit with Shyheim and the Wu-Tang affiliates Killarmy, Sunz of Man, and Killa Beez? Everyone was rightfully pissed. In fact, in addition to the gang criticizing N.O.R.E. and his music, Shyheim responded with a video tagging Mickey Factz, the show’s guest who was laughing at N.O.R.E.’s insulting words.

Shyheim Responds to Noreaga’s Comments

Additionally, Shyheim posted a video of himself responding to the “flunkies” comment on Instagram, stating that:

“Niggas get drunk and run they mouth, and don’t know what you talkin’ about. I ain’t never been nobody’s flunky or non-existent. I’m the true and living God, I’m in present time, nigga. I’m Shyheim, nigga.”

Fast forward, DJ EFN quickly responded and apologized to Shyheim’s post – in the meantime, the Instagram account of “Drink Champ” issued a statement informing fans that the slur would be rectified on the upcoming episode.

Mickey Factz Apology

Mickey Factz responded on social media with his apology to Shyheim and Wu-Tang affiliates. The rapper explained why Shyheim and the others were addressed in the dialogue during the show’s episode. He also confessed that it was wrong of him to have chuckled at N.O.R.E.’s controversial words. In the Instagram post, Factz claimed that:

“I just want to give an apology to all of the Wu-Tang members and anyone who’s affiliated with them as well as their supporters and their fans. That was definitely out of line, it was out of pocket, and there’s really no excuse for that.”

Factz also stated that the crew was intoxicated during the conversation of Drink Champs, which is another reason they were not thinking about the causes of their actions. Truth be told, I wasn’t impressed with the rapper’s apology video. Check out the full apology video and judge for yourself.

Nevertheless, in the following post, Mickey Factz noted a Zoom talk with Sunz of Man and Killarmy, resolving any differences between both sides.

Shyheim and Wu-Tang Affiliates Latest Update

After receiving serious backlash for his “flunkies” remark, Noreaga claims he contacted the NY rapper to shed light on the controversy. According to N.O.R.E., the chat went so well that he invited Shy to be a guest on one of the podcast’s future episodes. Nevertheless, it’s unknown whether the rapper will accept the invite.

According to N.O.R.E.’s Twitter post:

“Just spoke to @Shyheim_Rugged for 10 minutes DIRECT – NO middle men – Just Slime & Shy 1 on 1,” the Drink Champs host tweeted Saturday. “ALL POSITIVE ENERGY! Grown men sh** only! We spoke our peace; & he got his OFFICIAL invite to @DrinkChamps! Hopefully he accepts!”

Let’s stay tuned. Wu-Tang forever!
